Privacy & Governance
How Vyber handles your data and how the project is maintained
Privacy Policy
Anonymous Usage Statistics
Vyber collects anonymous usage statistics to help the developer understand how the application is being used. This data includes:
- App start, sound played, hotkey used, and heartbeat events
- Vyber version number
- Operating system type (e.g., "Windows")
- A hashed hardware identifier (derived from your network adapter, not linked to any personal information)
No personal information is collected. Event data only includes the event type — the names of your sounds, hotkey bindings, and audio settings are never sent.
Bug Reports
Bug reports are only submitted when you explicitly click "Submit Bug Report" in the Help tab. You may optionally include:
- System information (OS, Vyber version, Python version, architecture)
- Recent log data (you can opt out by unchecking "Include recent logs")
Bug reports are submitted to GitHub Issues and are publicly visible. Your Windows username is automatically redacted from logs before submission.
No Other Data Collection
Vyber does not collect, store, or transmit any other data. Your sound library, audio device configuration, hotkey bindings, and personal files are never accessed or shared.
